Appartement Le Hibou Overview

Honestly, when I first pulled up to Appartement Le Hibou, I wasn’t sure what to expect—three stars doesn’t always scream “wow” in Courchevel, right? But the minute I walked in, I got it. It’s not about chandeliers or marble lobbies; it’s about walking into a space that feels like someone actually thought about how people *live* here when they’re off the slopes. The place is on Route de Contregon, which—pro tip—is quieter than the main drag but still just a five-minute walk from the Jardin Alpin lift. You’ll save your legs (and your ski boots won’t be killing you) because you’re close enough to pop back midday for a hot chocolate break—something I did, more than once.

The apartment itself? Think cozy French alpine but with zero clutter. Exposed wood beams, a fireplace that actually works (and is already lit when you arrive—thank you), and huge windows facing the valley. I woke up one morning to fresh snow falling silently over the rooftops, and it felt like one of those postcard moments you don’t even need to photograph because it just *sticks*. The kitchen’s well-equipped—not just a toaster and sad kettle, but proper pans, a coffee grinder, even dish soap stocked (small thing, but after a week of self-catering elsewhere, it made me want to hug someone). Parking’s a bit tight, yeah—there’s a private spot, but if you’re driving a larger rental, you might need to maneuver twice. No big deal, though. And honestly? The silence at night was surprising. I’ve stayed in fancier spots where the après-ski noise lingers till 2 a.m., but here, once the sun dips behind the peaks, it’s just quiet. You hear the occasional *crunch* of snow underfoot as someone heads home, maybe a distant laugh. Peaceful.

I mean, it’s not a five-star resort with a spa and a sommelier, and it doesn’t pretend to be. But with a 9.6 rating? That’s not luck. That’s because the owners—real people who live nearby—actually care. Check-in was smooth, keys waiting, plus a little note with current trail conditions and where to grab the best *tartiflette* in town (spoiler: it’s at Le Coin Savoyard, not the fancier-looking place by the gondola). I stayed in January, peak season, and it still felt private, un-rushed. If you’re the type who wants luxury linens and 24/7 room service, this isn’t your spot. But if you want to feel like you’ve got a genuine little hideout in the mountains—one that’s warm, smartly designed, and just far enough from the crowds to feel like you’re in on a secret—then yeah, book it. You’ll leave thinking, “Wait, how did I not know about this place sooner?”

This is a fabulous find! It's located very close to bride-les-bains telecabine to Meribel, we found free parking nearby. The apartment is spacious and has everything you need for your ski stay including a ski boot dryer. The kitchen has everything stocked, it's simply perfect. A lovely host, very helpful with local knowledge. We would most definitely book there again.

Very spacious and wellequipped appartement. Very nice and helpful hosts that met us when we arrived and also sent directions on whatsapp with pictures and despcriptions, so we knew how to find the house and the key. A very nice appartement for af family with kids or in our case two friends with kids.
