Chalet l’écureuil Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Chalet l’écureuil on Route de Moussillon, I honestly wasn’t expecting much — just another alpine lodge, you know? But this four-star chalet actually surprised me with its authentic mountain charm. The traditional wooden facade and flower boxes gave it that genuine Savoyard feel, not the cookie-cutter ski resort vibe you sometimes get. What really caught my attention was how quiet and tucked away it felt, even though we were right in the heart of Méribel.
Location & Getting Around
I mean, the location is pretty much perfect if you’re serious about skiing. You’re in what locals consider the best part of Méribel — I kept hearing other guests mention how they’d specifically chosen this area. The parking situation is actually a huge plus here; free private spots right on-site, which honestly saves you a fortune and a lot of hassle during peak season. You can walk to the main lifts without breaking a sweat, and there’s this nice little path that cuts through to the village center that most tourists don’t know about.
The Room Experience
My room had that cozy mountain lodge feeling without being cramped — wooden beams, warm lighting, and a balcony that looked out toward the slopes. The beds were actually comfortable (not always a given in mountain hotels), and the bathroom was modern enough without losing the chalet character. What I really appreciated was the attention to detail — thick curtains for those early morning sun rays, plenty of storage for ski gear, and heating that you could actually control.
Dining & Common Spaces
Breakfast was served in this lovely common area with big windows facing the mountains. Nothing fancy, but good quality local products — proper French pastries, mountain honey, that sort of thing. The staff genuinely seemed to care about making your stay comfortable, not just going through the motions. I noticed they remembered guests’ names and preferences, which you don’t always get at larger properties. There’s also a nice sitting area where people naturally ended up chatting about their day on the slopes. The kitchen facilities were well-maintained and accessible for those wanting to prepare their own meals.
Why Guests Love It
Honestly, it’s the kind of place that gets the balance right — authentic mountain atmosphere without sacrificing comfort or convenience. Couples seem to particularly love it here (I could see why), and the location score speaks for itself. You’re getting that intimate chalet experience while being perfectly positioned for everything Méribel offers. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place on the mountain, but it delivers exactly what you want from a ski holiday — comfort, character, and that genuine Alpine feeling that’s getting harder to find these days.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Courchevel at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak winter season when the resort hosts numerous prestigious skiing competitions and events.

all the rooms has its own restroom, most of the rooms with single beds so that it provide flexibility, as its important to have own bed after snowboarding or ski
and it has excellent jacuzzi, suna, fireplace and living room
and the key is a passcode, its really convientJames from United Kingdom (8/10)
The apartment was very nicely furnished and very comfortable, every room has it's own bathroom, the sauna and hot tub were excellent and the kitchen was well equipped. There is also a bus to the main lifts that stops outside the property although we walked every day because it isn't very far. The photos don't really do it justice, it is even nicer once you get there.

L’espace, l’emplacement, le code d’accès bien plus pratique que les clefs, l’équipement, sauna, jacuzzi. Tout est bien pensé et le propriétaire !
