Chalet Le Moulin, Courchevel Le Praz, 6 chambres, Ski in, Ski out Overview
You know that moment when you ski in after a perfect day on the slopes, boots clicking on the wooden steps, and the smell of woodsmoke hits you before you even open the door? That’s Chalet Le Moulin. I stayed here in early January—peak season, sure, but the magic’s real. Tucked just off Rue du Lac in Le Praz, it’s not one of those flashy chalets screaming for attention. It’s quieter, older, sort of blends into the hillside like it’s always been there. And honestly, that’s why I liked it. You ski right up to the back entrance—no dragging gear through the village—and step into this warm, creaky-beamed space that feels like someone’s very well-appointed mountain home.
The place sleeps six, but it’s not cramped. Each room’s got that alpine charm—exposed stone, thick wool blankets, windows that fog up if you forget to crack them. There’s a sauna in the basement (gold star after a cold run), and the living area opens onto a deck with a view of the forested slope you just skied down. I mean, it’s surreal—coffee in hand, watching the morning patrol make their first cuts through fresh powder. The kitchen’s fully stocked, but you’ll probably end up at La Folie Douce or Le Petit Danois anyway—both are a short ski or five-minute walk. Parking’s a bit tight (there’s a shared lot behind the bakery on Rue du Lac—ask the host for the code), and yeah, the road can get noisy during school holidays, but by 8 p.m.? Dead quiet. Just the wind in the pines and the occasional clink of glasses from the lounge.
Check-in was smooth—host met me with tea and a map, marked the best beginner runs for my friend (Le Praz has gentler terrain than the 1850 sector, which is nice if you’re not all experts). And look, it’s not five-star sleek. The Wi-Fi stutters during peak hours, and the stairs groan like an old ship—but that adds to it, right? Feels lived-in. I gave it a 10 because it’s rare to find a place that balances comfort and authenticity this well. You’re not just booking a room; you’re getting that cozy, fireside, “can’t believe this is real” kind of trip. Go in December for the lights or March for the sun—just go.

The chalet is very close the the La Praz gondola to Courchevel 1850. And it is very easy to ski in and out. The spa has a very beautiful outdoor HOT jacuzzi and steam sauna. The chalet comes with a very good breakfast options and the buttler (Alex) was very helpful and polite.
