Courchevel Moriond 1650 – 2 Bedrooms – Sleeps 8 Overview

You know what surprised me most about this place? It’s tucked away on Rue de l’Ariondaz—just a quick shuffle from the base of the Jardin Alpin lift—but it doesn’t feel like you’re right in the thick of things. Which, honestly, is kind of perfect. You’re close enough to hear the occasional *clink* of ski poles and the muffled laughter of people heading out in the morning, but not so close that you’re waking up to boot-clomping at 7 a.m. The building’s got that classic Savoyard charm—wooden balconies, slate roofs, snow piling up just so—but inside, Apartment A133 feels surprisingly modern. Not flashy, just clean and warm, like someone actually thought about how people *live* in a ski apartment for a week.

Two bedrooms, sleeps eight—sounds tight, but it works. The master’s got that deep, almost-too-comfy bed with a view of the trees behind the complex (bonus: less light pollution at night). The second room’s loft-style, which kids love—there’s a little ladder, and the ceiling slopes just enough to feel cozy, not claustrophobic. Kitchen’s small but functional—there’s a proper oven (not just a toaster oven, thank god) and enough cupboard space if you’re doing a grocery run from Intermarché in Le Praz. We stocked up on raclette and wine, and honestly, half the fun was melting cheese while watching snow fall past the balcony window. Heating’s great—floors are warm, which matters after a day on the slopes—but the real win is the storage. Ski racks in the hallway? Yes. Drying space for boots? Covered. No more stinking gear in the living room.

Courchevel Moriond (or Courchevel 1650, whatever you want to call it) gets overlooked for the glitz of 1850, but that’s the point—it’s quieter, cheaper, and still gives you direct access to the whole Three Valleys. The lift pass works everywhere, obviously, but you’ll appreciate the lack of crowds at the Jardin Alpin lift, especially midweek. Check-in was smooth—host met us with tea and a map, which felt thoughtful—and parking’s underground (a lifesaver when it’s dumping snow). Only real quirk? The elevator’s a bit slow if you’re lugging gear, so plan accordingly. But hey, that’s alpine living. You trade a little convenience for charm, and here, it’s worth it. If you want low-key luxury without the price tag (or the pretension), this place nails it.
