DIFY Grand Soleil – Courchevel 1650 Overview
Okay, so I’ll be real with you—I wasn’t sure what to expect from a 3-star place in Courchevel 1650. You know how it is—fancy town, sky-high prices, and sometimes the “luxury” feels more like a showroom. But DIFY Grand Soleil? Honestly, it surprised me. It’s tucked into the Résidence Grand Sud, which is just a quick 3-minute walk from the Jardin Alpin lift—no dragging skis through the whole village. And that matters when you’re half-awake at 8 a.m. with frost on your goggles.
The building itself is low-key, blends in with the snow-dusted chalets, nothing flashy. But inside? Cozy. Think warm wood finishes, that subtle pine-and-fireplace smell when you walk in, and soft lighting that doesn’t scream “hotel.” The apartment-style rooms are where it really wins—you’ve got your kitchenette (lifesaver for coffee in the morning or a cheap wine night in), and the beds? Actually comfortable. Not one of those “looks nice, kills your back” situations. I stayed in early January, peak season, and it was busy but never noisy—thick walls, I guess. Or maybe the snow just swallows sound out here. Either way, I slept like I was knocked out.
Now, the rating’s 8.3, and I get why it’s not higher. It’s not five-star sleek. The elevators can be slow after a long day on the slopes, and yeah, the decor leans a bit “ski resort 2008.” But here’s the thing—it feels lived-in and real. You’re not paying for gold-plated faucets; you’re paying to be close to the mountain and have space to kick off your boots without tripping over a minibar. There’s a little grocery just down the path toward Le Praz—perfect for grabbing baguettes and cheese when you don’t feel like another overpriced fondue dinner. And in the evenings, the quiet is nice. No thumping music from some lobby bar. Just muffled laughter, boots clunking on wood, that kind of vibe.
I mean, if you want champagne service and a spa the size of a football field, go elsewhere. But if you’re like me—just want a solid base that’s warm, clean, and close enough that you’re on the first lift without a hassle—this place delivers. I’d come back. Especially in late January when the light hits the slopes just right and the whole valley glows like it’s dipped in gold. That view from the balcony? Yeah, that’s the stuff.
The concierge service in Courchevel can arrange exclusive helicopter skiing tours, secure reservations at Michelin-starred mountain restaurants, and organize personalized ski lessons with Olympic champions.

Value for money, location and quite well equipped
Nicholas from South Africa (8/10)
Lovely location with beautiful views! Easy access to the slopes and mountain trails. Very comfortable and more than enough space for two people.
Alexander from United Kingdom (1/10)
I liked nothing about this apartment. The interlocking bunk beds are woefully uncomfortable and they compromise one’s ability to move around. Terrible.
Wylden from United States (7/10)
Location is very central to the ski lifts, good value for money, easy check-in

Julien from France (9/10)
