Hôtel La Sivolière Overview
You know that feeling when you step into a hotel and immediately know you’re somewhere special? That was me at Hôtel La Sivolière. I’d seen the photos, sure, but nothing prepared me for walking in and being hit with that alpine-chic vibe—exposed wood beams, soft cream stone, and this faint scent of pine and espresso in the air. It’s on Rue des Chenus, which, if you know Courchevel, is kind of the sweet spot—close enough to the main lifts at Jardin Alpin to ski in and out (seriously, you can be on the slopes in five minutes with skis on your feet), but tucked just far enough off the main drag that it doesn’t feel like a circus. Especially during peak season—Christmas week is wild here—but this place still manages to feel quiet, almost private.
The rooms? Gorgeous. I stayed in one facing the valley, and waking up to that first light hitting the snow-covered peaks—honestly, it’s the kind of view you don’t even need coffee for (though the in-room espresso machine helped). What I really appreciated, though, was how they balanced luxury with warmth. It’s five stars, yeah, but it doesn’t feel stiff. The staff remembers your name by day two, and the lounge by the fireplace—where they serve these little spiced wine shots in the afternoon—is the kind of place you end up lingering, flipping through ski maps and chatting with other guests. Oh, and the spa? Worth the splurge. The outdoor hot tub at dusk, with snow falling lightly and the mountains turning pink—yeah, that’s the moment you realize why people come back to Courchevel every year.
Downside? Parking’s a bit tight if you’re driving (there’s valet, but it’s first-come), and the restaurant, while excellent, books up fast—so reserve that dinner *before* you arrive. (Trust me, the duck confit with roasted cèpes is not something you want to miss.) Also, it’s not directly on the main shopping strip—Chemin des Chenus has a few boutiques, but if you’re into high-end fashion, it’s a 10-minute stroll to the center. But honestly, that’s kind of a relief. You get the luxury without the noise and crowds right outside your window.
Bottom line: if you want somewhere that feels both indulgent and *real*—like, you’re actually in the French Alps and not just in a fancy box—this is it. I’ve stayed in flashier spots, but La Sivolière? It’s got soul.
Visitors often choose Courchevel apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Alpine destination.

Although I’m a beginner myself but I e been to quite a few ski resort with my kids and Courchevel 1850 is the best one I’ve been to.

Fantastic 4 day stay at this stunning hotel located right on the piste so easy for ski in/ski out. All the staff were exceptional from the ski locker team who were always on hand to help out with skis and boots to the catering team who delivered a first class breakfast each morning, to the front of house team that were always on hand to help whether by arranging ski passes or the courtesy shuttle bus. Nothing was too much trouble. The bedroom for 4 of us (inc 2x 12 year old girls) was very well appointed, clean and comfortable.
