Hôtel Les Peupliers Overview

You know what surprised me most about Hôtel Les Peupliers? It’s not one of those flashy Courchevel hotels trying to impress you with chandeliers and gold trim. It’s quieter, more understated—nestled right in Le Praz, which honestly, I didn’t think got enough love until I stayed here. You’re not right on the main strip in 1850, but that’s kind of the point. You’re a five-minute shuttle ride (or a 15-minute walk if you don’t mind the slight uphill and your boots are broken in) from the main lifts, but you actually get to sleep at night—no thumping music from the après-ski bars. And that matters when you’ve been skiing since first lift.

The hotel sits in this little cluster of traditional Savoyard buildings, and it sort of blends in, which I like. The wood paneling in the lobby smells like pine and old books—comforting, not musty. Check-in was smooth, no fuss, and the staff actually remembered my name by day two (props to Marie at reception—she slipped me a map with the best fondue spots circled). Rooms are cozy but not cramped, with these thick wool blankets that feel like you’re being hugged by the Alps. I had one facing the courtyard—quiet, snow falling softly at night, just the occasional crunch of footsteps on fresh powder. Bathrooms are updated but still have that classic hotel charm, like the heated towel rack that saved my soggy gloves more than once.

Breakfast is a spread of local cheeses, charcuterie, and warm pain au chocolat that I’m pretty sure is delivered fresh from the bakery on Rue du Coq—that little place with the red awning, no sign, open at 6:30 a.m. for skiers. And the sauna? Small, wood-lined, perfect after a day on the black runs at Jardin Alpin. Not huge, but you’re not here for a spa resort anyway. You’re here for easy access, real mountain vibes, and a place that feels like a well-kept secret. It’s not flawless—the Wi-Fi stutters on stormy days, and the elevators are a little slow—but honestly, I didn’t mind. I was too busy watching the sunrise over the Vanoise peaks from my window with a too-hot coffee from the thermos in the hallway. At 8.7, it’s not “perfect,” but it’s real. And in Courchevel, that’s rare.

The concierge service in Courchevel can arrange exclusive helicopter skiing tours, secure reservations at Michelin-starred mountain restaurants, and organize personalized ski lessons with Olympic champions.

  • Josefina from United States (9/10)

Instead of 10 I gave 9 since wifi NEVER worked in our room (120); we told the receptionists and they could not come up with a response in the 6 days that we stayed there, not the best receptionists for sure….. OTHERWISE, everything was amazing. The restaurant crew, on the other side, the best ever! Honestly, you felt so taken care by all the team from the bar/restaurant.

  • Ian from United Kingdom (9/10)
