This four-star property has that authentic Alpine charm you’re hoping for — think warm wood, stone accents, and those oversized windows that frame the mountain views perfectly. What really caught my attention was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the area, not just the scripted tourist spots.

Location & Ski Access

You know what’s brilliant about this place? You literally ski to the door. I mean, after a long day on the slopes in Méribel, the last thing you want is a trek back to your hotel with all that gear. The parking situation is sorted too — they’ve got private spots, which is actually a big deal in this part of the Alps where finding a place to leave your car can be a nightmare. Couples seem to absolutely love the setting here, and I get why — there’s something romantic about being tucked away in Mottaret while still having easy access to the entire Three Valleys ski area.

The Room Experience

My room had that cozy mountain lodge feel without being overly rustic — clean lines, comfortable bedding, and a balcony that looked out over the slopes. The bathrooms are well-appointed, though not huge, but honestly that’s pretty standard for Alpine hotels. What I appreciated was the attention to detail — proper blackout curtains (essential after those bright snow days), decent WiFi, and heating that actually works well. The soundproofing is solid too, so you’re not hearing every conversation from the hallway.

Dining & Atmosphere

The restaurant serves up proper Savoyard cuisine alongside more international options — I had an excellent tartiflette that hit the spot after skiing. Breakfast is substantial enough to fuel a day on the mountain, with local cheeses and charcuterie that actually taste like they’re from the region. The dining room has this relaxed après-ski vibe where you’ll find families, couples, and groups of friends all mixing together. Service moves at a comfortable pace — not rushed, but not painfully slow either.

Why Guests Love It

Recent guests have been rating the location incredibly highly, and after staying here, I completely understand the enthusiasm. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re in a proper mountain village rather than a massive resort complex, but you’re still connected to everything. The ski-to-door access means you’re on the slopes within minutes, and when you’re done for the day, you can practically tumble back to the hotel. For couples especially, there’s something special about the setting — Mottaret has this intimate, tucked-away feeling that makes it feel like your own little Alpine discovery.

  Top location: the hotel is at the slopes, where 3 gondola lifts start – to Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorence. On the way back you may ski down a slope directly to the hotel, enabling you to ski till the lifts close.
  Nice ambiance: wood mostly, a fireplace in the bar area.
  Food is phenomenal! Rich breakfast and exceptional gourmet dinners. Compliments to the chef! We were HB, had oysters, duck magre, beef with chestnuts and mushrooms, foia gras…. Then a wheelcart with a wide variety of cheese comes… and there is a dessert corner where we had fresh raspberries, home made chocolate with nuts, amazing panacotta and a variety of pastries.
  Staff is attentive and polite.
  I had high quality sleep, and generally I have very fragile sleep. The hotel was extremely quiet in the sleeping hours.
  Spa: two small saunas, a large steambath, a swimming pool and a relax area. A small, but well equipped gym. A squash. All very clean, and maintained at the proper temperature.
  Hotel location is also very convenient for travel, as the bus stop is literally 200 m from it. We arrived by bus from Geneva airport.

  We liked our stay. Perfect location Ski in and out. Very cozy and rustic French style. The lounge area is wonderful. Amazing breakfast buffet. They had the best towels we had in a while. In general very kind and attentive staff. And we loved the ski rental store’s convenience and service level that’s connected with it.
