La Résidence Belledonne Overview

First Impressions

Honestly, when I first pulled up to La Résidence Belledonne, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect — the name had caught my eye, but you know how it is with mountain hotels. This four-star property sits right in Les Tovets, and I mean right where you want to be in Courchevel. The building itself has that classic Alpine charm without being too over-the-top about it, which I actually appreciated after seeing some of the flashier places around town.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s the thing about location in Courchevel — it’s not just about being “close to the slopes” (though this place definitely is). La Résidence Belledonne sits in what locals will tell you is the sweet spot of the resort. You’re walking distance from the main lifts, but you’re also tucked away enough that you don’t get the constant noise of ski boots clomping around at 7 AM. I noticed couples seemed particularly drawn to this area — there’s something romantic about the way the chalets are positioned, with those mountain views that honestly never get old.

The Room Experience

My room was… well, let me put it this way: it felt like staying at a well-appointed mountain retreat rather than a generic ski hotel. The Alpine touches were there — wood paneling, cozy textiles — but they didn’t go overboard with the whole “rustic cabin” thing. What I really appreciated was the attention to practical details: proper lighting for reading (you’d be surprised how many places mess this up), decent storage space for all your ski gear, and windows that actually frame the mountain views instead of just happening to face that direction.

The Mountain Setting

You know what struck me most about staying here? It’s how the property feels integrated into Courchevel rather than just dropped onto it. The staff clearly knows the area — they gave me tips about which slopes to hit when, where to grab lunch that wasn’t touristy nonsense, that sort of local knowledge you can’t get from a guidebook. The whole Les Tovets area has this authentic Alpine village feel, even with all the development that’s happened over the years. I found myself just wandering around in the evenings, which isn’t something I usually do at ski resorts.

Why Guests Love It

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of mountain hotels, and La Résidence Belledonne gets something right that many miss — it strikes that balance between comfort and character. You’re not paying for unnecessary frills, but you’re also not roughing it. The location score speaks for itself (seriously, 9.6 out of 10), and after spending time there, I get why couples rate it so highly. There’s something about the combination of being perfectly positioned for skiing while still feeling like you’re experiencing authentic Courchevel that just works. It’s the kind of place where you actually look forward to coming back to your room at the end of the day.

The apartment is right in the heart of Courchevel 1850, easy to find, walk everywhere, car parking underneath, clothes washing facilities and nearby Mimi supermarket.
All kitchen items and more were provided to make self catering easy and enjoyable.
the apartment was spacious and light filled, in a very well maintained and clean condition.
The lovely manager, Louisa, was always helpful and friendly, very welcoming and informative.
Unfortunately I had a cardiac arrest towards the end of our stay, but Louisa was amazing, helping my distressed husband pack up the apartment so he could travel to me in hospital, and helping with other details required.
we do hope we will be back, and look forward to staying here again.
    Highly recommended!
