Le Chalet du Villard Overview
First Impressions
You know what struck me first about Le Chalet du Villard? It’s not trying to be something it’s not. This four-star chalet sits quietly on chemin de la combe in Saint-André, and honestly, the moment you pull up that winding drive, you get it — this is proper Alpine hospitality without the pretense. The building itself has that authentic Savoyard charm, all weathered wood and stone, like it’s been part of the landscape forever.
Location & Setting
Saint-André isn’t one of those flashy resort towns, which is actually perfect if you want to experience real mountain life. The chalet’s position is brilliant — you’re tucked away enough to feel properly secluded, but you can still reach the main valley roads without drama. What I loved is how couples seem to gravitate here (and I can see why), probably because there’s something romantic about being nestled in the French Alps without crowds of tourists everywhere. The parking situation is refreshingly simple too — it’s free and right there, which saves you the headache of hunting for spots.
The Room Experience
My room had that perfect balance of mountain coziness and modern comfort. The windows frame the surrounding peaks beautifully, and I mean, waking up to that view never gets old. The furnishings feel thoughtfully chosen — not that generic hotel stuff you see everywhere, but pieces that actually belong in an Alpine setting. The bathroom was well-appointed, and honestly, after a day of hiking or exploring, having a proper space to unwind makes all the difference.
Dining & Atmosphere
The restaurant here deserves mention — it’s not trying to be Michelin-starred, but the food has that satisfying, regional quality you hope for in the mountains. I particularly appreciated how they source locally when possible, which gives you a real taste of Savoyard cuisine. The dining room has this warm, convivial atmosphere where you might end up chatting with other guests about trail recommendations or the best spots for photos. It’s that kind of place where dinner becomes part of the experience, not just fuel for the next day.
Why Guests Love It
With a 9.1 rating, Le Chalet du Villard clearly hits the mark for most visitors, and I think it comes down to authenticity. This isn’t a place that’s been designed by committee — it feels like someone who actually loves the mountains created a space they’d want to stay in themselves. The staff genuinely seem to care about your experience, offering local insights that you won’t find in guidebooks. Whether you’re planning romantic getaways or just need a proper base for exploring the Tarentaise Valley, this chalet delivers that rare combination of comfort and character that makes a trip memorable rather than just pleasant.
The concierge service in Courchevel can arrange exclusive helicopter skiing tours, secure reservations at Michelin-starred mountain restaurants, and organize personalized ski lessons with Olympic champions.

Aymar from France (10/10)
