Les Marmottes Overview

First Impressions

When I first walked into Les Marmottes, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place in Tignes — but this little gem completely changed my mind. The building sits right in Val Claret, and you know what struck me immediately? How quiet it felt despite being so close to everything. The lobby has this cozy Alpine vibe without trying too hard, and the staff actually seemed genuinely happy to see guests arrive.

Location That Actually Matters

Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of ski resorts where “great location” means a 20-minute trudge to the lifts, but Les Marmottes is different. You’re literally steps away from the slopes — I mean, I could see people skiing past from my window. The Val Claret area buzzes with energy, especially in the evenings when everyone’s coming back from the mountain. What I really appreciated was having parking right on site because finding a spot in Tignes during peak season can be absolutely brutal. Plus, there’s a small grocery store just around the corner, which saved me multiple times when I needed snacks or forgot something essential.

The Room Experience

My room was compact but smartly designed — honestly, after a full day on the slopes, you just need somewhere comfortable to crash. The bed was surprisingly good quality, and the heating worked perfectly (crucial when it’s freezing outside). The bathroom was small but functional, with decent water pressure in the shower. I actually loved the mountain views from my window — waking up to see fresh snow on the peaks never gets old. The soundproofing was better than expected too, considering how lively the area gets at night.

Practical Perks

What really won me over were the little things that make a difference when you’re traveling. The ski storage area downstairs meant I didn’t have to lug my gear up to the room every night. There’s also a drying room for wet clothes — trust me, this is gold when you’ve been out in the snow all day. The WiFi actually worked well throughout the building, which isn’t always a given in mountain locations. I also noticed they have a small seating area near the entrance where you can sit and put on your boots without feeling rushed.

Why Guests Love It

After spending several nights here, I get why couples rate this place so highly — it’s intimate without being cramped, and the location lets you be spontaneous about your plans. You can easily walk to restaurants, bars, or just pop back to drop off purchases. The value is honestly impressive for Tignes, where accommodation costs can get pretty steep. Les Marmottes delivers exactly what you need: a clean, comfortable base that doesn’t eat up your entire budget. It’s not fancy, but it’s genuine and well-run, which matters more than marble bathrooms when you’re here for the mountains anyway.

Visitors often choose Courchevel apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Alpine destination.

The property is compact but the four of us were comfortable. The property is clean and modern. There is a short bus ride to the lifts but the buses are frequent and the bus stop very close by. Stephane and Isabelle were very responsive to messages and the deposit was returned very quickly.

  • Pam from United Kingdom (8/10)

Great location halfway between Val Claret and Tignes le lac. Easy access to ski areas via the bus – with a bus stop pretty much right outside. Comfortable beds, equipped kitchen and great WiFi. Easy check in and out. Great hosts who communicate regularly and give clear instructions. Any issues were swiftly dealt with.

Great contemporary appartment with spacey and well-equipped kitchen, large and comfortable bathroom, lots of light with view on the snow valley of Tignes Le Lac, terrace with sun in the afternoon. A 50 meter walk from bus (2 stops to get to the 4 main ski lifts in Tignes Val Claret; 2 stops to get to the lifts in Tignes Le Lac), and directly accessible from a ski slope side track. Top location !
