Residence l’Ecrin des Neiges – maeva Home Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Residence l’Ecrin des Neiges – maeva Home, you immediately get that authentic Alpine apartment vibe rather than your typical hotel lobby experience. It’s honestly refreshing — this three-star residence sits right in the heart of Val Claret, and I mean right in it, where you can practically roll out of bed onto the slopes. The building has that classic Tignes architecture with wood and stone details, nothing flashy but perfectly suited to the mountain setting. You know what struck me most? How quiet it feels despite being so centrally located.

Location & Ski Access

Here’s the thing about Tignes — location is absolutely everything, and this place nails it. You’re literally steps from the Grande Motte cable car, which I can’t stress enough is a game-changer when you’re hauling ski gear around. Val Claret is the highest part of Tignes at 2,100 meters, so the snow conditions are consistently excellent throughout the season. After a full day on the Espace Killy slopes, you can ski practically to your door — no shuttle buses or long walks with heavy boots. The shops, restaurants, and that essential après-ski scene are all within a two-minute walk, which couples particularly seem to love since they can easily pop out for dinner without any hassle.

The Apartments

These aren’t hotel rooms but proper apartments with kitchenettes, which actually makes a huge difference for longer stays. The furnishings are functional rather than fancy — think mountain cabin meets modern efficiency. Most units have balconies with mountain views, and honestly, waking up to see the glacier is pretty special even if you’ve been here before. The kitchens are well-equipped enough that you can prepare simple meals, which is brilliant considering how expensive mountain restaurants can get. Storage space is adequate for ski gear, though you’ll want to book the larger apartments if you’re traveling with a group.

Practical Considerations

What I really appreciate is how straightforward everything is here. Check-in is efficient, the staff knows the mountain well enough to give solid advice about conditions and routes, and the whole setup just works without any pretense. The residence has that no-nonsense approach that serious skiers tend to prefer — you’re here for the mountain access, not spa treatments or elaborate amenities. Parking is available, which matters more than you might think in Val Claret where spaces are at a premium. The apartments are cleaned regularly, and maintenance issues get sorted quickly, which shows they understand their guests are here to ski, not deal with problems.

Why Guests Love It

It really comes down to that unbeatable combination of location and value that keeps people coming back. Couples especially seem drawn to the intimate scale and the fact that you can have a proper romantic mountain getaway without breaking the bank on accommodation. The recent guest ratings reflect what I’ve observed — when you can ski out in the morning, grab lunch on the mountain, and be back for a quick rest before evening plans, that’s the kind of seamless mountain experience that makes a trip memorable. It’s not about fancy amenities here; it’s about being perfectly positioned to make the most of Tignes and the incredible skiing that surrounds you.

Hotels in Courchevel offer guests the perfect blend of Alpine luxury and modern comfort, with many featuring ski concierge services and traditional mountain spa treatments to enhance the authentic French Alps experience.

    STAY AWAY.
Balcony door wouldn’t open, if there was a fire we would have been only one exit for 8 and if the fire was in the hallway we would have been stuck.
No bedding even though it was advertised as per on booking.com. It’s advertised as as accommodation with a front desk but this is false. U get thrown the keys after a meet in the street arranged by what’s app and left to fend for yourself.
We Informed the accommodation of all the problems and just refused to to help in anyway.
The room was dirty on arrival! We cleaned it when we arrived! The whole building was dirty. We had to hoover the hallway due to the amount of dirt being walked in once we had cleaned our room on arrival!
I’ve been away skiing many times and stayed in all types of accommodation but this was by far the worst place. We bumped into a few other residents who also had many similar problems with no help.

  • Paul from United Kingdom (1/10)

Location of property was central to all the resort and amenities

  • Debbie from Netherlands (8/10)

ligging was goed, appartement compleet en netjes prima voor een gezin met drie kinderen. Complete en uitgebreide keuken. Fijn twee badkamers.

  • Lennert from Netherlands (3/10)
