Six Senses Residences & Spa Courchevel Overview
Okay, so I’ll be honest—I’ve stayed in a few fancy places in Courchevel, but Six Senses? That one sticks with you. You know what hits first? The quiet. Even though you’re right off Rue des Tovets—super central, just a quick ski-cut down to the Jardin Alpin lifts—it feels tucked away, like your own little alpine hideout. The moment you step inside, it’s all warm wood, soft lighting, and this subtle cedar-and-sage scent that’s not overpowering, just… calming. I mean, after a day on those icy black runs, that first whiff is basically a hug.
The rooms? Huge, but in a way that doesn’t feel empty. They’ve got these massive windows facing the valley, and if you’re lucky (book early—this place fills up fast by Christmas and during February half-term), you’ll catch the sunrise painting the peaks pink. I stayed in one of the Residences, which is basically like renting a seriously luxurious apartment—full kitchen, fireplace, the works. Perfect if you’re here with family or just want to avoid eating out every night. (Though, honestly, their in-house restaurant? Worth at least one splurge. That venison tartare with pickled chanterelles—don’t skip it.)
Now, the spa. Okay. This is where Six Senses earns its rep. It’s not just the heated indoor pool with the mountain view—though yeah, swimming at 9 p.m. with snow falling outside? Magical. It’s the whole vibe. The staff actually remembers your name and preferred treatment pressure. I had this 80-minute Himalayan salt massage (weird name, incredible result), and afterward, they handed me ginger tea in this little quiet lounge with floor cushions and soft chanting in the background. No pressure, no upselling. Just… peace. And the sauna? Cedar-lined, with a cold plunge that’ll wake you up faster than any espresso.
Check-in was smooth—no line, glass of champagne while they ran my card. And parking? Underground, heated, which sounds minor until you’ve scraped ice off your rental car at 7 a.m. in -10°C. Only real “drawback” I noticed? It’s quiet—*too* quiet for some. If you’re looking for après-ski buzz right at your doorstep, you’ll need to walk five minutes into the main village. But honestly? That’s kind of the point. You come here to recharge, not get dragged into another tequila shot at La Folie.
Bottom line: if you want luxury that feels warm, not stiff, and care more about a great night’s sleep and a killer massage than being in the middle of the party—this is your spot.
