Madame Vacances – Hôtel Courchevel Olympic Overview

Honestly, when I first pulled up to Madame Vacances – Hôtel Courchevel Olympic, I wasn’t expecting much—two stars in Courchevel? That’s practically a chalet sandwich in a town full of five-star glitz. But here’s the thing: it’s *real*. You’re not walking into some polished, impersonal lobby with marble floors and a harpist. Instead, you step into this cozy, slightly dated Alpine vibe—wood paneling, that faint smell of old wool and woodstove, and a receptionist who actually remembers your name by day two. It’s on Rue des Tovets, which—fun fact—slopes down just enough that you’ll feel it in your calves if you’re lugging skis back from the Jardin Alpin lifts (which, by the way, are only about a five-minute walk through the snow-dusted path behind the bakery).

The room was compact—okay, let’s be real, it’s small—but it worked. You don’t come to Courchevel to spend time indoors anyway. What mattered was that the bed was warm, the shower had pressure (not always a given in mountain conversions), and the view from my window? Straight-up ski slope magic. Woke up one morning to fresh powder, and watching the first tracks get laid down while sipping terrible hotel coffee somehow felt… perfect. The breakfast buffet is exactly what you’d expect—croissants that are *almost* fresh, yogurt cups, and enough ham to fuel a morning on the slopes. Not gourmet, but sufficient. And honestly, you’re better off grabbing a pain au chocolat from Boulangerie des Neiges down the street (go early—they sell out by 9).

Check-in was quick, no fuss—just a key handed over with a “Bon courage” like they knew I’d need it. Parking’s a bit of a hunt in peak season (late January and February), so if you’re driving, aim to arrive before 4 p.m. or book the lot on Avenue du Savoy. Noise? Surprisingly quiet at night. The snow absorbs sound like a sponge, and the walls are thick enough that you won’t hear the couple arguing about ski routes next door.

Look, this isn’t the place to impress your Instagram followers. But if you want a no-frills, honest-to-goodness ski stop that doesn’t bleed your wallet dry—somewhere you can come back to, kick off your boots, and feel like you’re actually *in* the mountains instead of just visiting them—this little spot? It gets it right. I mean, 7.4 isn’t perfect, but it’s real. And in a place like Courchevel, that’s worth something.

Reviews of Madame Vacances – Hôtel Courchevel Olympic

    Location

What could be improved: No elevator

  • Overall it was fine – Derya from Turkey – 24 February 2025 (7/10)

    Very close to everything

What could be improved: It was noisy, the room was on the road and quite a lot of noise from there

  • Pleasant – M from United Kingdom – 24 February 2025 (6/10)

Great location, friendly and welcoming staff

What could be improved: Heating not working, hotel provided an electric radiator. Internet very very slow

  • Great stay – great location – Michael from Australia – 12 February 2025 (8/10)

Excellent location (good restaurants nearby and short walk to lifts) , lovely helpful staff, nice bar.

What could be improved: The place was exactly how it was described we were not expecting a 5 star experience for the excellent price in such an expensive location.

  • Fantastic location, amazing ski are, blue skies and powder what more could you ask for! – Anthony from United Kingdom – 5 January 2025 (8/10)

Fantastic location, Family room was functional, bathroom was clean and looked like it was recently refurbished, staff were very helpful, parking available in nearby carpark, less than a 5min walk to the main lift/ski school area.

What could be improved: Facilities were limited

  • It’s a pitty. A hotel with such a perfect location and cozy rooms should have a much, much better service to offer. – Ivana from Serbia – 25 February 2024 (6/10)

The location was perfect. The rooms were spacious and cozy, new bathrooms, coffee machine.

What could be improved: Before arrival, I got approximately 10 emails from the hotel but none of them informed me that on the day of our arrival the reception will be closed since 12h till 16pm, so after a long, long trip we had to wait for almost three hours in the bar around the corner, not knowing what to do with our luggage, ski gear, car etc They did leave an “emergency phone number” but the girl practically just told us to wait.
I really do not understand why it was so difficult to share this info with us a day before the arrival. Or even on the same day, that would help us to organize differently.
Housekeeping was a mess. One day they forgot to lock our room, another day they left our terrace door open, one day they would leave bottles with water for us, another day no, one day we were even left without an additional toilet paper roll. One day they would come to do the cleaning while we were having breakfast, another day so late in the afternoon, while we were taking showers or relaxing after skiing.
The breakfast was very basic every single day and for the amount of money we payed for our two rooms per day we rightfully expected more.

  • Comfortable room in great location with excellent staff – Helen from United Kingdom – 21 February 2024 (8/10)

The bar was an excellent place for breakfast and an early evening drink. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, in particular Lucille who shared her local knowledge about restaurants and the best lift to access the slopes which really added to our enjoyment.

What could be improved: The ski room is a bit glum! Also we had a room at the back of the building. Very comfortable but the view onto the bleak wall opposite spoiled the ambiance – a voile curtain to disguise the view and add to a sense of luxury in the room
    would be a welcome addition.

  • Good – Tom from Australia – 18 February 2024 (7/10)

What could be improved: No gluten free option

  • Good – Anja from Albania – 2 January 2024 (8/10)

Honestly from the reviews i was expecting something horrible but it was not bad. The staff were very nice, the room was clean and comfortable. My stay was pretty good actually!

  • best value hotel in town – Ricky from United Kingdom – 11 May 2023 (8/10)

second time staying at this property. perfect hotel for a ski trip in 1850. excellent value for money for the town, great staff, good breakfast. 3 mins walk from the gondola. makes an otherwise expensive resort that much more affordable. lovely manager, works her socks off bless her. will def return.

What could be improved: can get a bit hot overnight in the rooms, but rather that than cold I guess!
